HE WAS HANGED ON APRIL 5, 1944, EIGHT MONTHS BEFORE THE START OF THE GREEK CIVIL WAR THAT FOLLOWED THE LIBERATION FROM THE AXIS OCCUPATION (HE WAS A MEMBER OF A WWII RESISTANCE ORGANISATION).

 

He was hanged on April 5, 1944, eight months before the start of the Greek civil war that followed the Liberation from the axis occupation (he was a member of a WWII resistance organization).

The photo was taken at the junction of Xenias Street with Zografou Avenue in the Athens suburb of Ilisia;

at the background, police officers and men of the Security Battalions (the then Nazi and later British collaborators).
